Laura Henderson is a community organizer, city-based gardener, and facilitator committed to cultivating collective wellbeing. They serve as Collective Operations Steward of the Growing Places Indy Collective, where they have worked for more than 15 years to expand access to fresh food, cultivate relationship-based community leadership, and nurture healing connections within oneself, between each other, and with the earth.

Laura facilitates with Child Advocates’ Community Education and Training program (formerly Interrupting Racism for Children) and with the Human Solidarity Project, bringing a strong lens of equity and justice into work with individuals, groups, and organizations. They also have extensive experience partnering with K–12 public schools to integrate gardening and mindfulness into student learning and wellbeing. With a background in yoga, mindfulness, and somatic practices, Laura supports groups in exploring how presence, land-based learning, embodied practices, and creativity can disrupt inequities and grow belonging and interconnected liberation.

The practice of yoga has taught Laura to continually explore how to hold dual—sometimes dueling—realities without falling into binary traps. They apply this practice daily—with ample failure and restarts—in parenting, partnering, working, and living. Laura is committed to learning Spanish to keep up with their bilingual child and volunteers with Indiana Assistance to Immigrants in Detention.
