FAQ

WHY THIS, AND WHY NOW?

Now more than ever, we are being called to live our yoga—not just on the mat, but in the world.

How do we radicalize our practice for justice?
How do we show up with courage, care, and skill—especially in times of collective distress?
How do we respond, instead of retreat?

The Skill in Action Mentorship Program, facilitated by author and activist Michelle C. Johnson, with co-facilitators Tristan Katz and Raudhah Rahman, is a 6-week live, intimate container for deepening your facilitation practice and your commitment to collective liberation.

This is a space for turning insight into action. Reflection into relationship. Practice into purpose.

What to expect:

This mentorship is for a small cohort of 10–12 participants ready to integrate the teachings of Skill in Action through community, embodied practice, and a creative project rooted in your “why.”

Who this is for:

The ideal candidate for the Skill in Action Mentorship program is someone who has been practicing yoga for at least two years, someone who is already working in their community to address inequities in wellness spaces, and someone who is interested in deepening their facilitation skills.

Not only will you learn more about how to be skillful now and how to bring skills for justice into your communities, you will also learn how to hold change. Holding change requires deep connection to intuition and the confidence that you can respond to the various dynamics that arise as we work across lines of difference, dismantle oppression. The skills offered through this program can be applied within the context of a Skill in Action workshop and beyond.

FAQs

Is this mentorship only for yoga teachers?

While many participants are teachers, this is open to anyone committed to integrating justice into their practice and work.

Can I choose my 1:1 facilitator?

Yes—we’ll invite you to indicate your preference after registration and do our best to match you accordingly.

What kind of project do I need to complete?

Your integration project can be anything that reflects your “why”—a class, zine, community offering, podcast episode, or something else. It’s not about perfection—it’s about practice.

I can’t attend every session. Is that okay?

While we strongly encourage full participation, all sessions will be recorded and available for a limited time to registered participants.

Is financial support available beyond the community rate?

If cost is still a barrier, you can indicate this in your application. We’ll do our best to support access while honoring the sustainability of our work.

What’s the difference between the on-demand course and this mentorship?

The course is foundational learning. The mentorship is live, relational, and action-oriented. You’ll be applying the teachings in real time with real people.
