Shakira
pronouns
Born in the mountains of Colorado and rooted in North Carolina, Shakira is the big cousin with a soft place to land and the dedicated bodyworker disrupting the way capitalism lives in our bodies. For more than a decade, she practiced as a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist, a certified yoga teacher, and an aerial movement artist, learning the body’s innate language of tension and release.
At a pivotal point in her career, Shakira gathered with Michelle C. Johnson, immersing herself in the framework of Skill in Action, creating a foundation for deeper conversations about toxicity in wellness spaces, the systems of oppression, and how we must address the cultural forces that shape our lives.
Shakira grounds her work as a culture strategist in embodied training while weaving practices of repair, sacred movement, and practical liberation. She writes, speaks, and facilitates gatherings where spiritual leaders, disruptors, and activists release what is heavy to create physical and emotional movement, and reimagine how they live, work, and care for one another.
