Yoga and Spiritual Teachers and Space Holders

Organizers & facilitators

WHY NOW
We are living through a time of profound uncertainty and transformation.
War and genocide
Economic Inequality
Climate crisis
Racial Injustice
Individual and collective grief
Many of us are overwhelmed by the amount of suffering we witness every day.
We find ourselves asking:
What can I possibly do?
What is mine to do?
How do I stay engaged without becoming consumed by despair?
How do I remain connected to my humanity, and to the humanity of others?
Attacks on bodily autonomy and civil rights
Political Instability
These are spiritual questions. And they are questions this work has always asked us to engage. Spiritual practice can be more than a place we retreat from the world. Practice can build our capacity to be present to the world as it is while imagining and creating the world as it could be.
Yoga can teach us how to stay.
01
How to breathe when the conditions around us make it difficult to breathe.
How to remember that none of us are free until all of us are free.
02
How to notice the conditioning that separates us.
03
How to interrupt patterns of harm.
04
How to discern our dharma
05
How to act without attachment to the outcome while remaining committed to liberation.
THE INVITATION
I have spent over a decade centering conversations and practices at the intersection of social justice and yoga.
It began with questions.
Why was the yoga industry so exclusive?
Who had access to these practices?
Who felt welcome?
Whose bodies, experiences, and wisdom did we center?
And what did it mean to practice yoga while ignoring the systems of oppression shaping our lives and our world?
2017
Those questions became Skill in Action

Now
A body of work built with thousands of practitioners.
In the years since, they became something larger than a book—a body of work built alongside thousands of practitioners, teachers, studio owners, and organizers grappling with how to live their values and engage practice in service of justice.
This membership platform is where it all lives now: a community of practice, an on-demand library of Skill in Action practices you can return to whenever you need them, and a community to practice alongside.
Every month, no matter the tier, you will receive LIVE and Pre-Recorded Sessions. Fifteen teachers across the coming year, each bringing what they know about the practice, justice, and staying in it.

If cost is a real barrier right now: unstable income, debt, or caring for others on very little.
If you are meeting your needs but have little left over at the end of the month.
Not sure which to choose?
There's no checking and no wrong answer. A few questions to sit with:
Is your housing stable and secure?
Do you have savings you could draw on in an emergency?
Are you carrying debt, or supporting others financially?
Do you have access to family or generational wealth?
Can you take time off without losing income?
If you are financially stable, with some savings or a cushion to fall back on.
If you have wealth, generational support, or significant savings, and want to help hold the scale open for others.
If none of these work for you
Write to us and we'll find a way. No explanation needed, no application, no questions asked. This has always been how we do it, and it will not change.
Email skillandaction@gmail.com to ask about these options.

No. The membership stands on its own, though the book is here if you want it.

Any time, from your account. We understand circumstances change and you can cancel any time.
After decades of justice work and exploring the intersection of spiritual practice, yoga, and justice, I know reimagining a world where collective liberation is real takes practice. Practice requires repetition, reflection, relationship, and community. Justice work does too. You do not have to figure out how to respond to this moment alone.
